The Tenderness of Wool
the Potential of Wool-Sewing
My research into wild wool as a material was originally inspired by Tama Art University’s “Connecting Wool” project.
Rather than using felting—a common technique in wool manufacturing for everyday goods—I chose to explore the natural intertwining properties of raw wool, incorporating various sewing techniques.
Through experimentation, I developed a thin, translucent wool-based material with a distinct thread pattern, evoking a sense of both strength and lightness. I plan to continue investigating ways to express the delicacy and refinement of wild wool while exploring how the beauty of nature can be seamlessly woven into everyday life.
This material can be molded from a flat surface and transformed into various three-dimensional forms through sewing techniques. By further developing this approach, I aim to unlock new possibilities for integrating wool-based sewing into interior design and fashion.
